ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

We welcome volunteers from all over the world. It doesn't matter your age, faith, experience or training, if you share our desire to make a difference in Uganda, we hope you'll consider getting involved. There are many different projects you can get involved in. Volunteers can teach, look after children, do medical work in the slums, work in the clinic, participate in medical outreaches, do construction work and even be involved in administration.

HELPFUL LINKS for Volunteers

Who can volunteer: Anyone is welcome to apply! If you are under 18 you will need to travel with a parent or guardian.

Length of time: The minimum stay for most of our volunteering programs is a week, but we would love you to stay as long as you like!

Cost: $18 (USD) per night (Plus $25 application processing & program fee)

This covers 24/7 in country support, orientation, placement and accommodation.

Additional expenses: Visa, flights, travel insurance, vaccinations, in country transportation, souvenirs, in-country trips or tours and spending money.

Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in a beautiful and very secure bungalow style apartment unit. Each unit has two bedrooms, a shared western style bathroom (with hot water!) a very spacious living and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Volunteers are able to cook their own meals in their spacious kitchen. There is also many places close by to eat out both local and western food.

Volunteers are required to keep their rooms and common areas tidy.

WiFi: Is available, however the connection can be slow so we recommend bringing an unlocked mobile phone and the local team can help you to purchase a local SIM card when you arrive in Uganda.

Orientation: Is hosted by our local team at the volunteer base. Orientation begins on the morning of your chosen start date and covers everything you need to know for your volunteer program in Uganda – Introduction to Uganda, Culture and Customs, Rules and Expectations, Safety, Language Basics (Luganda), Travel Opportunities and Introduction to Project and Placement. The orientation will also give you a chance to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend travel and socializing.
