  • Why volunteer with Making a Difference in Uganda?
    We have years of experience in Uganda working with a variety of local organizations. We have carefully chosen partners who we believe are doing incredible work here in Uganda. Volunteering with Making a Difference in Uganda will allow you to work with local people changing the world around them.   • What programs can I be involved in?
    With Making a Difference in Uganda, we give you the option to be involved in a range of amazing programs, including education, childcare, medical outreach, work in the slums and special needs. We encourage volunteers to get involved in all programs.
  • What does a typical week look like?
    Every week can differ slightly depending on your interests and where the need is. See our blog post here for a general idea.
  • Who do I volunteer with in Uganda?
    While volunteering in Uganda, you will be working with a range of locally based organizations that we have worked with for an extended period of time and who we trust. Some of the organizations we work with are explored here.
  • Where do I stay when I volunteer?
    Volunteers are housed in a lovely bungalow style house that they will share with another volunteer of the same gender. It is located in an area called Lweza, and includes hot water and a washing machine. For more information see our Accommodation page.
  • How do I get a visa to Uganda?
    Your visa requirements will depend on your intended length of stay, country of residence and nationality. We advise you aquire a visa through the online system here.
  • What vaccinations and medication do I need for Uganda?
    A yellow fever vaccination is a requirement to enter Uganda. For all other vaccinations and medication we advise you see your doctor, or travel doctor for the most relevant information for your personal needs. It is expected that all volunteers have health and travel insurance.
  • Do I need travel insurance?
    Yes, travel insurance in compulsory to volunteer with Making a Difference in Uganda. We reccomend World Nomads, for affordable, comprehensive insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure you have approrpriate cover for your needs.
  • What do I need to pack?
    What you need to pack will vary depending on your personal needs. In addition to clothes and toiletries, people volunteering for a longer period of time often find a laptop or tablet is useful. Due to infrequent power outages, a portable charger is always advised. See here for more information.
  • What excursions can I do while volunteering with Making a Difference in Uganda?
    There are a number of excursions you can take part in while volunteering with Making a Difference in Uganda. Our 3 day Murchison Falls Safari is a crowd favourite, with the opportunity to see the big 5 and experience the serenity of Murchison Falls National Park. Uganda is also known for Gorilla Treking and its adventure water sports. See more on our excursions page.
